Who we are

Milne's Towing & Recovery ("we", "us") is a towing and recovery business at 1331 Highway 359, Kentville, Nova Scotia. This page explains what personal information we collect through this website and when you contact us, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

What we collect

When you use our "Request a tow" form, we collect what you type in:

  • your name (optional)
  • your phone number (required, so we can call you back)
  • the pickup location
  • your vehicle's year, make and model
  • what happened, and any message you add

When you call, text or email us, we see your phone number or email address and whatever you tell us.

Please don't put anything sensitive in the form that we don't need, like health information or payment card numbers.

Why we collect it

We use your information for one purpose: to answer your request. That means calling or texting you back, working out where your vehicle is and what it needs, and doing the job. We may also keep a record of the job for our own business records.

We don't use it for marketing. We don't send newsletters. We don't sell or rent your information to anyone.

By sending the form, or by calling, texting or emailing us, you agree that we can use your information for the purpose above. You can withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us. If you do, we may not be able to help with your request.

Who sees it

When you send the “Request a tow” form, it goes to a contact service run by our web designer, J&J Design, on Amazon Web Services servers in Canada. That service emails your request to us at milnestowing@gmail.com, and may keep a copy so the request can be delivered and checked. Our email provider, Google (Gmail), stores the email.

Our crew sees your request so they can help you.

Our Contact page has a "Get directions" link to Google Maps. If you click it, your browser sends our address to Google, and Google's own privacy policy applies from there.

We share your information only when we need to for the job (for example, telling a driver where to go), or when the law requires it.

Some of these services may store information outside Canada. When they do, it is subject to the laws of that country.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it to deal with your request and keep the business records the law requires. Then we delete it.

How we protect it

Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection. Only the people who need your request to help you can see it.

Cookies and analytics

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't use analytics.

Like most websites, our web host may keep basic technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site running and secure.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us and we'll respond within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires.
